R1 Gets some loud!

The 2009 R1 project bike just got more awesome! Had ToxicFab.com fabricate a low mount exhaust made out of stainless steel with a slash cut and mild megaphone! The crossplane crank engine sounds wicked! Check out the project page, more clips coming soon!

Friday Karting

We tried out the Birel CR125 shifter kart on Friday. It is a monster! Only had front brakes, wouldn’t steer, old tires, and the engine was very…healthy. So it is a muscle car! Who knows what engine mods have been done to the CR, but it definitely will kick you in the pants!

On the first session on the track I managed to plow a ways off the track down a grassy slope. The second session the throttle hung because of a loose bolt on the throttle pedal so I found myself doing a 180 in a hairpin corner. Finally after wrestling the kart around the track about 12 laps the water pump seal decided to give up and sprayed water everywhere.

Definitely an interesting day. I hope new tires help out the Birel’s steering issue. If not then I have some tweaking to do!

The first is the nearly immaculate CRG Heron with a KX125, and the second is a 2005 Birel with a CR125. Both have great promise to be in the ML garage!

Houston Supercross 2013

Houston Supercross 2013 at the Reliant Stadium was excellent this year! Ryan Villopoto took first in the 450 class and Blake Wharton grabbed a first finish in the 250 class. Check out our photo gallery from the race here!

Modified Lifestyle Visits Gulf Coast Kartway

It was a beautiful (albeit very windy) day for kart racing this Sunday March 24, 2013! We decided to make the drive to west Houston and check out what local kart racing had to offer at the Gulf Coast Kartway Spring 4 event. It was a blast to watch the racers go around the track and we will definitely be back, maybe with a kart of our own next time…

The TX2K13 drag races in Sealy, TX were definitely entertaining to watch this year! From the plethora of Nissan GTRs to a full size diesel truck – we were treated to lots of fuel-burning, tire-smoking action!
